Hello? Anyone home???

Monday is here, December 11th, and it's back to journalling food, water and activity. My blog will now be regularly updated ;)

What I had to eat today:


Breakfast: Rolled oatmeal and applesauce (4 pts)
Snack: Herbal tea (black): 0 pts
Lunch: Whole wheat pasta (2 cups) and sauce (1/2 cup): 8 pts.
Snack: Small lowfat yoghurt (strawberry): 2 pts.
Dinner: Rolled oatmeal and applesauce (4 pts)
Total: 18 points
Range: 18 to 23 points

Water Intake:

Knocked over my water bottle all over my desk (approx 450 mL of the 600 mL bottle emptied out). Refilled bottle and started again. One 600 mL bottle completed by 11 am. One more completed between 11 and 1, one more between 1 and 2, one more between 2 and 4, working on one more right now (will be 3 L by end of day at work).

TurboKick class at the gym with Robbie (1 hour)

Wednesday, October 11th (Day two of clean slate)

I weighed in this morning and I'm down to 153 pounds (6 pounds down since Monday night.... YAY!) We had a great workout this morning, and a better workout this afternoon (the workout room at the gym is like a sauna right now because their heater is out of whack... I've heard of hot yoga before, but I don't know how safe "hot Turbo Kick" is..)

Here's what I ate today:


Breakfast: Bran Cereal with milk (4 pts), midmorning snack of 1 oatmeal packet (2 pts)

Lunch: Chicken Sub from Subway... 6 inches (7 pts)

Dinner: Oatmeal - 2 packets (4 pts total)

Total: 17 pts of possible 18-23 points for the day (I know, it's under, but I wasn't any hungrier than that today).

Tuesday, October 10th.... back on the wagon (again)

I weighed in last night and I was sickened by the number that I saw... I was at 159 pounds. How did I let myself go like that? How undisciplined was I? I was so lazy and pigged out so badly on Thanksgiving weekend that I was getting heavy again. So what was I gonna do about it? I was going back on Weight Watchers points, and I was going to start working out again, starting tomorrow.

Here's what I ate today:

Breakfast: Bran Cereal with milk (4 pts)

Lunch: Chick Pea pita from Fit for Life (7 pts) with carrot sticks (0 pts)

Dinner: Jugo Juice (Berry Binge flavour) (6 pts)

Total: 17 pts of the possible 18-23 that I am allowed under the Weight Watchers structure. One day down, many more to go :)

Terrific Thursday

After a two week hiatus from my blog, I am back. We had a great class yesterday morning and last night (about 35 ladies last night!) and I think that I may have overdone it a bit because my Turbo Knee was hurting (left one only). It still kindof hurt this morning, but I think it will be ok for class tomorrow.

Snack: 1/2 cup of Kashi Go Lean Cereal (1 pt)

Happy Wednesday!

Happy Wednesday to me!!

We had a great class this morning, with a bunch of new people.. it's so great watching new people get the hang of TurboKick.. once the "new workout smell" wears off, it's fantastic, because the "newbies" are comfortable with the movement and routine, and are really tearing it up! I'm looking forward to tonight's class.. I am much more of a "night" person when it comes to class, and I seem to do so much better!! :)

Snack: 2 fig cookies (2 pts)
Lunch: Chicken Teryaki (5 pts)

Well, here are the pictures of the tattoo that I had done last night. It certainly was more uncomfortable today than it was last night. Maybe that's because last night it was still wrapped up. Check it out, it's part of my family crest (Reilly), and I think that the artist's concept is awesome!!

Month end Friday, and I got me a tattoo ;)

Well, I didn't get to go to class with Robbie tonight, because I was laying on a black leather dental chair and getting my first tattoo. I chose to get part of my family crest tattooed on my lower back. Some people say the outline hurts more, some people say the shading hurts more... I'd say that both hurt equally, and that some spots are more tender and receptive to pain. I'm proud to say that I didn't jump out of the chair, or actually cry, but I did have some spots where tears did spring to my eyes. I wish I'd worn my heart rate monitor, to see what my heart rate was the whole time, as I'm sure my blood pressure shot through the roof. Funny thing is, I walked out of the tattoo shop (Black Line Studios), and I felt just as drained and exhausted as I do in one of Rob's killer classes!! LOL After a while, I got used to the sensation, as the tattoo took about 15 minutes less than a full two hours. We'll be taking pictures of it tomorrow and posting them!

Day 9 of 10

I'm sleepy right now, so I might make a typo or two. ;) I had the afternoon off, and had the joy of going to the dentist... I also got some cleaning done in the apartment (I accomplished something good!) .

Class was awesome tonight, and I was able to eliminate 520 calories.. yee ha!! Monday always feels like such a long day, and I think it's because it's the first day back at work for the week, and I have a wicked class at night.

Today's workout was off the HOOK!!! I totally pushed myself the whole time, and I burned 618 calories and my average heart rate was 167 beats per minute. There must have been at least 30 women in class tonight.

Went for a run on the eliptical this evening, and burned 532 calories in 65 minutes. I still felt tired, and had to push myself to get my ass up to the gym and hit the exercise rule from the 10 in 10. It was a busy day at work too, so that led to me still feeling run down from the jetlag.

Day 371 Monday is Baseball Day

Went to the baseball game today, because it was a Civic Holiday (government, banks and beer/liquor stores closed) day. THe Blue Jays won 8-1 (finally!!) We had seats in the 500 level, and snuck down to the 200 level in the 7th inning (we're rebels) ;)

Day 369 Saturday is shopping for Rob Day...

Weighed in this morning, and was at the same weight as last Saturday (148 pounds). Rob and I had to go shopping for black clothing for Rob, and he scored with some sweet clothes from Nike. I got something from Nike as well, and it will be unveiled at camp :) GO ORANGE!!

Day 368 Finally Friday!

Back to work today, played mad catch up with email, and had to run some meetings for our field reps today, so that took up most of my morning. Had a sweet TK class with Rob last night, where I got moved around the room like a chess piece. We walked home, and we counted a total of 93 policemen (and women) along Yonge Street. It's Caribana Weekend in Toronto, a celebration of Carribbean culture, and there had to be at least an extra 10,000 people on the street at 9ish last night. Police were generally working in groups of 4, and we saw them in police cars, a van, command centers, on bikes and on horses! A lot of people were taking pictures of the policemen on horses (they are kind of cool!)

Day 364 Manic Monday

Robbie and I had a good weekend, relaxed and went for a Day of Beauty yesterday... Rob is even more pretty now!! I got a manicure and pedicure (pics up later) and I no longer look like I have man-hands!!



LOL Off to Turbokick after work tonight.. looking forward to hiding inside, as it's going to go up to 34 degrees (43 with the Humidex) I ended up burning 531 calories and had 154 beats per minute heart rate average.

I weighed in this morning at 152 pounds, down 2 pounds from last week, due to clean eating, good water intake, and kicking ass in my workouts this week. YAY!!! 2 pounds down, some more to go... I was also on the eliptical machine upstairs and burned 312 calories in less than half an hour!

Had a great workout this morning, even cracked 500 calories burned!! I burned 508 calories in an hour, and I even stopped yawning fairly early in (well, it WAS a 6:30 am class) LOL. Robbie and I are having a late anniversary celebration by going to see Spamalot (the Monty Python and the Holy Grail musical... can't wait!!)

Day 341 Off to Hotlanta!

Well, I am off to Atlanta for the next few days for a work conference. I have packed Cardio Party Remix so that I can get a sweet workout in while I'm gone. Apparently, the temperature in Atlanta is similar to Toronto right now, but the humidity might be higher. I get back on Monday and have to go straight to work from the airport. I will be missing Robbie's class today and tomorrow, but I will be back for Monday night's class. One of the most important ways to not feel like crap for these weekend work events is to keep yourself hydrated, so my roomate and I will get a case (if we can) of bottled water while we are there. It seems a little extreme, but we'll feel better for it.

Day 340 I'm baaaaaaaaaaaaaaack

Dear Diary, I have been a bad blogger. I have been absent since June 16th, but now I'm back. This is a quick post to summarize yesterday, and start recording my food and water as of today.

Robbie taught his first double Turbo Kick yesterday, and I burned 400 calories in the morning class and 450 in the evening class. I was so proud of Robbie, he did AWESOME!!! I enjoyed the evening class better, because I was able to do all of the moves without yawning ;)

Breakfast: Oatmeal (2 instant packets): 4 pts
Lunch: Chili and Rice : 8.5 pts
Snack: Carrots and dip : 2 pts

Day 319 A sore knee, filming a movie

At work today, we were filming a movie, and we learned how to be Bollywood dancers and how to move properly in 20 feet of sari fabric. I am so proud that I didn't fall!! Got home from work pretty late, and didn't workout because my knee had been really hurting me (it had started hurting late Tuesday).

What I had to eat today:

Breakfast: Oatmeal (4 pts)
Lunch: Chicken Breast, noodles, sauce (8 pts)
Snack: Handful of Carrots
Dinner: 1 glorious veggie samosa (between 5 and 10 pts)

Day 318 Wacky Wednesday

Went for a run on the treadmill tonight, and my knee was really aggravated by the time that I finished. But, I was on there for 1 hour and 9 minutes, had a heart rate if 152 bpm, and burned 563 calories... YEE HA!!!

Lunch : Chicken Sub from Subway (7 pts)

Day 310 Thursday .. one more day til the end of the week!

Wow, I had a stressful day at work, had a really big meeting this afternoon, and I've spent alot of time preparing for it. By the time I got home, it was like I had an adrenaline crash, and I was so TIRED!!! But, I made myself go up the gym upstairs, and I had myself a great session. Here are the results:

Rob teaches his first class tomorrow, and he's so excited! I can't wait to see how well he will do.

Day 308 No workout today, clean slate tomorrow

I weighed in this week and I am up to 152.5 pounds. Last week, I ran Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, and did TurboKick Thursday and Friday, but didn't eat enough poiunts in a day, get in enough water daily, or really try hard on my TurboKick workouts. I burnt about 150 less calories in one hour of TurboKick than I did when I ran for an hour. After talking to Rob, he pointed out that I have to push myself when I'm running on the treadmill, and I decided that I have to find a way to really start pushing myself during the workout as well. I've got Monday to Thursday to really work on form and effort though, as I will be going to both of Robbie's teaching classes next week... I'm so proud of him!!! :) He'll do great!


Robbie and I went grocery shopping today and we had an afternoon and evening of full-on housecleaning to keep us busy. Robbie worked on the kitchen area, and it looks great!

Lunch: Pasta and sauce (5 pts)
Afternoon snack: Chicken and spinach pizza (5 pts)

Day 303 Still hot and hazy in Toronto for a Tuesday

The TTC is supposed to be running normally, but there were a heck of a lot of people on my streetcar this morning, so I think there are fewer running. I spent most of the day inside, as it was really hot and nasty, but I had to go out at lunchtime to get food. Once I was back from getting lunch, I wanted to go sit in a freezer LOL


I went for another run in the gym upstairs, and here are my stats: 155 beats per minute (heart rate average), burned 468 calories and ran for 55 minutes. I tried to run as much as I could, but my knees and shins were getting sore at the end.

Day 302 TTC went to hell Monday

The Toronto Transit Commission had a wildcat strike today that completely blindsided the 800,000 daily users of streetcars, busses and subways. Needless to say, the city of Toronto was not happy. To make things even nastier? It was 90 degrees in the shade, and the first smog alert warning of the year. I had to walk halfway home because streetcars kept diverting. I went for a run in the evening though, in the gym upstairs, and here are my stats: 154 beats per minute (heart rate average), burned 506 calories and ran for 1 hour 1 minute. I tried to run as much as I could as well.

Day 295 Happy Victoria Day

Well, I haven't been able to post since last Wednesday, as my Mom had heart bypass surgery on Friday, and I found out on Thursday morning. I went home after work Thursday and threw clothes and other essentials into my Lululemon bowling bag... Mom was supposed to have had her surgery at 12 o'clock on Friday, and she wasn't operated on until 4 pm. But the good thing is, she had her surgery, and she will make a great recovery. I am going back home tonight after going to the hospital, and then it's back to the grind at work tomorrow.

I did Cardio Party remix Saturday morning, and here's my stats:

Time: 33 min 06 seconds, 234 calories burned and 141 beats per minute (average heart rate).

All in all, it's been a crazy few days, and I will be back on schedule tomorrow.

Day 290 Still raining Wednesday

It really came down today, with flooding in some parts of the city due to rain.. luckily, one of my coworkers bought me an umbrella, so I did not get drenched on the way home.

I worked out this evening after Rob did his fitness test, and here are the results:

Woke up this morning and decided to workout, as I might go to the movies after work tonight. I did TK round 26 today, followed by the Punching Segment for TK round 27... some of the choreography is different, so I will practice this one again tomorrow.

Day 288 Monday.. beginning of TK round 27

After weighing in on Saturday, and being up to 149 pounds, I have decided that I will learn TK round 27 to jump start my workouts. I will still plan to do TK round 26, and learn each segment, one by one for Round 27 until I can do the whole round all the way through. I will do TK round 26 today, followed by the Warm Up for TK round 27... yee ha!

Here's my workout summary... time: 56 minutes 36 seconds, calories burned: 364, average heart rate: 131 beats per minute

Unpleasant experience for the day: I took an antiobiotic and the side effect was that everything I drank tasted very metallic... EEEEEEEWWWWW.

Day 281 Marvelous Monday

Hello again, it's me, the non-consistant blogger. Robbie ran the 10K run yesterday, and his brother and I were spectators. He did AWESOME!!!! I am so proud of him! I had a meeting at work this morning, so I was up early and out of the house, so I had to workout in the evening. Big mistake :( I was so tired, and I put my workout off until about 9:30. I made it to the "legs" segment of Turbo Jam Round 26, and then I packed it in. My calorie burn was crap, but I will do much better today!!

Day 274 I've been a bad, bad blogger...

But I can change!!! Or rather, Monday is my fresh start for consistant blog posting and updates.

I had a nice weekend, where Robbie and I went over the border to Buffalo with his family, to celebrate my sister-in-law's birthday. We had a lot of fun, and were pretty tuckered out last night when we got home. I slept in a bit this morning so I did not get to work out, but I will have a good workout tonight. My throat is KILLING me right now, so at least I'm getting my water consumption in today!! LOL

Day 262 Thirsty Thursday

I woke up this morning and had a fantastic Turbo Jam workout.. then jumped in the shower and got ready for work. It only I knew how crazy it would be...

Well, it's been quite busy at work today, with everyone sending in "urgent" requests that need to be done yesterday, and I had a meeting for an internal position at work in another department. Fingers crossed!!! I have to leave work right on time tonight, as I have to catch a train to go to my parents house after work. Fingers crossed, and I can get the earlier train.

I'm also worried about Robbie, because his shift at work is giving him an ulcer... and sometimes, I'm at a loss for words. I wish I knew what to say to make it better and not sound like an idiot. This is something I'm working on... I miss not being able to see him everyday, and I try to make the most of the time that we spend together and that we are conscious for. I love him so much!!

What was I seeing????

So last night, Robbie and I were on our way home from his parents, and I saw the following sign at a fashionable store on trendy Queen Street West in Toronto.... I was compelled to go back today, to see if my eyes had been playing tricks on me, and if this clothing store was showing clear disrimination against heavier-set people...




What do you think? On one level, you can say, it's to advertise the new spring trend for the "skinny" jean. But, if you knew this store, you'd know that a "large" in that store is equivalent to a "small" in any other "normal" store (ie the Gap). I'm sure that this advertisement is meant to be seen on two levels... one level for stovepipe-legged jeans and the other level saying "Stay away fatty, you aren't welcome here".... just my thoughts. What are yours?

Busy day at work today, and then Robbie IMd me to tell me that our new Turbo Jam DVDs had arrived!! YAY!!! So I did Cardio Party 3 last night.. although, the weird thing is, it's 6 minutes shorter than Turbo Kick round 26, but it feels longer... I think it will be easy to get used to though :)

Day 249 Thursday April 6th= UFC :)

I am so excited!!!! I get the joy of watching 2 hours of Ultimate Fighting Championships on SpikeTV and then the premier of the UFC 3 reality show... I am so pumped up!!!

I had a good workout this morning, I decided to take Rob's advice and worked on indidual sections (pretty much everything after the TURBO except for the Legs section) from TurboKick round 26. I'm happy to say that my form was much more concise than when I tried last night! :)

Day 243 Happy End of the Quarter to Me!!!

I slept in this morning.. I woke up a half hour after I was supposed to have been at work. OOOOPS. After scrambling to make it into work, it's been a crazy day.. it's the end of our quarter at work, and it's BUSY. But in a good way ;)

It's pouring rain like crazy right now, and my sinuses feel like they are trying to escape from my face. ... grrrrr.

I hope that it gets better tonight so I can have a great workout once I get home.. fingers crossed!!!

I felt like I was dragging my heels in the afternoon, and I felt like I had more zip in my step after I ate dinner. This time, I made sure that I completely let my food digest before working out, so I didn't end up burping up dinner through the workout ;) Another round of TurboKick 26 and I think I'm finally getting the moves down in the correct order :) YAY!!!

Day 239 "I'm a maniac, maniac" Monday

For some reason, during the "run and scream" segment of TurboKick 26, I couldn't stop thinking that I was like Jennifer Beals in Flashdance ;) I had an awesome workout today (although I did throw up in my mouth a little bit during the workout when I was pushing myself really hard). We're really busy at work, so I tried to use my workout to re-energize myself.. I hope I can continue to do so during the week.

Day 235 GoldDigger Thursday....

Can I say how much I love the LEGS segment of the TurboKick Round 26?? Maybe it's because Gold Digger is a really great song, or maybe because it's "easier" choreagraphy that alot of the other sections, but I really enjoy doing it, and look forward to that before I do Abs. Working late shift today, so it's gonna feel like a really long day, I'm glad I got a strong workout in this morning! :)

Day two of attempting TurboKick Round 26.. slowly catching on, still feeling kind of clutzy in some parts.... the good thing is, I am remembering alot of the proper form and techniques that I learned on Saturday, when Mindy corrected my form for me.

Day 233 TurboKick Tuesday

I was really tired this morning, so I chose to skip a morning workout. I decided that the extra hour of sleep would be better for my energy level during the day. This evening I brought it for TurboKick Round 26, and had the best 56 minute workout!!! There were a couple of awkward moments when I stumbled a bit during the "Advanced" demonstrations (as we learned the "Basic" ones in certification on the weekend).. but I'm going to get better. Man, was I a sweaty bitch at the end.. but it's for a good reason ;)

Day 232 "Looks like someone has a case of the Mondays...."

Well, I survived this weekend... after some convincing from Robbie, I also dis the TurboKick certification on Saturday, and I think I'm still in a degree of shock over the whole experience. It was definitely not something I'd ever picture myself doing, and I am so glad that I did it!!! After the TurboKick session on Saturday, I slapped in Cardio Party 1 this evening and prepared to work out... It's amazing how much harder Cardio Party 1 was for me once I had corrected my form (something fantastic that happened at the Certification), and was still challenging, although not as intense and draining as the TurboKick master class was. I'm so glad that I got to meet everyone from Beachbody, and had a complete blast in Columbus!!

Mindy was fantastic, and such a motivating teacher, she made us all feel special, and that we all mattered. I'm so glad that she was my teacher, as she helps you and makes corrections without making you feel like a loser. She can really make people feel at ease, she has a great gift as a presenter.

Kim was the bomb, and totally saved our lives with one of the best Peanut butter and Jam sangwich that I've ever had!! Marty was also a really great guy, and so much fun. Big thanks to them for helping us find our way in Columbus.

Mark and Allison were so nice and real, I'm glad that I got to meet both of them. They are both really intense people, and so collected and dedicated to their fitness regimes.

Monica was super nice, and had such amazing form when she was doing her practical exam (I was peeking) even with the small amount of sleep she had the night before.

I was so glad to have met everyone, I'm glad that we experienced this all together, and we all had a blast at TurboKick certification. In 4-8 weeks, I will get my certification in the mail.. YAY!!!

Day 227 Wonky Wednesday

My day felt a little topsy-turvey today, as I had the morning of work to write an exam for Microsoft. I passed the exam, and I am now eligible for a bonus from work :) Once I put in my afternoon at work, I came home, had dinner, took a movie back and went for (almost) an hour's run. I'm so happy.... I beat my time from Monday!!! I did 4 miles in 56 minutes, when Monday I could only do 3.6 miles in 55 minutes.... (insert happy dance here) :) I don't know how I managed to do it, but I really pushed myself, running most of the session at a 14 minute/hour pace, with an average treadmill speed of 4.8. I did have to slow it down a little bit to a treadmill speed betwen 3.5 and 4.0, when I started to get tired.

Day 226 Totally Painful Tuesday...

I should have known I would be stiff today when I had to logroll Rob to get out of bed this morning.... LOL I didn't work out this morning, and ended up sleeping in, so I did not get to have a nice relaxing, hot shower. As the day went on, it seemed that my nemesis at work was staircases. I lost count of how many times I went up one to three flights of stairs. And believe it or not, going DOWN the stairs was more painful. As a result of my 7.6 mile running odyssey yesterday, I have muscle groups I forgot I had screaming at me, and not in a good way ;) When I got home this evening, I tried to get through Cardio Party 2. Unfortunately, I packed in the towel after the Turbo Boost , as I couldn't handle the muscle pain anymore... my kicks after the Turbo Boost were pathetic, because it was getting too painful to kick properly. The good thing was, I made it through the 6 minute kicking segment without crying!! After making it through part of Cardio Party 2, I can see where some of the routine from Cardio Party Remix comes from... surprisingly, my coordination wasn't even that bad!!
